Three big AI stories broke this week:
- xAI is leasing its Colossus-1 supercomputer to Anthropic
- The Anthropic Institute is putting research dollars into how AI will reshape the economy
- Google is internally testing an always-on agent called Remy as its answer to OpenClaw
We pay close attention to this stuff at TJ Digital because it directly affects how we help our roughly 42 clients show up in AI search.

ToggleWhy Is xAI Leasing Colossus-1 to Anthropic?
xAI is renting out its Colossus-1 supercomputer to Anthropic because SpaceX is already using Colossus-2 and Colossus-1 was sitting unused. This solves Anthropic’s biggest bottleneck. The company has been heavily compute-constrained for a while, which has limited how much they could ship.
Anthropic gets access to the additional compute starting this month. They’ve already announced higher rate limits on Claude’s API, effective immediately.
The trade-off is that this only impacts the API. If you pay for a Claude monthly plan, you’ll hit your token limit just as fast as before, and tokens cost the same.
Some people are reading this as Elon giving up on training a competitive model and pivoting to selling hardware. I don’t think that’s what’s happening. Elon still seems to believe he’s going to be first to AGI, and renting out idle compute is just smart use of hardware while he gets there.
@tjrobertson52 Elon is now powering Anthropic, Google has a secret AI agent in testing, and this week in AI was a lot. Are you keeping up? 👀 #AINews #Anthropic #GoogleAI #AI2026

What Is the Anthropic Institute Researching?
The Anthropic Institute, Anthropic’s research arm, just announced they’ll be devoting resources to studying how AI is going to impact the economy. They want to answer questions like what it actually looks like when a firm of three people can do the work that used to take three hundred people.
Honestly, this looks like mostly a PR play. Even so, I think it’s important that someone is putting real research dollars into this kind of question. Most of the conversation around AI right now is either hype or doom, and there isn’t much rigorous work being done on what the day-to-day economic shifts will look like.
How Does Google’s Remy Compare to OpenClaw?
Google is internally testing a Gemini-powered agent called Remy. Remy is an always-on AI agent that can do work on your behalf. Like OpenClaw, it can have its own Gmail inbox, access to Calendar, Docs, and the rest of Google’s suite.
The interesting part is that Remy is supposed to do tasks proactively, not just on request. That’s the difference between an assistant you ask to do something and a team member who notices something needs doing and handles it. We’ll hear a lot more about Remy soon because Google I/O is just a few weeks away.
If Google ships Remy with everything it claims, this puts real pressure on OpenClaw. Google’s distribution advantage with Gmail, Calendar, Docs, and Chrome is hard to beat. Most business owners are already inside Google’s tools every day.
How Do These AI Agents Stack Up Side by Side?
Always-on agents are starting to look like a real category. Here’s how the major players compare based on what we know so far.
| Agent | Maker | Current Status | What It Does Best |
| Remy | Internal testing, more expected at Google I/O | Lives inside Gmail, Calendar, Docs, and Chrome | |
| OpenClaw | OpenAI | Available now | Set the bar for proactive always-on agents |
| Claude (Chrome extension) | Anthropic | Available | Most natural at writing, best at following detailed instructions |
| Comet | Perplexity | Free version available | Standalone AI browser with agentic features |
What Should Business Owners Do About These AI Updates?
The pace of AI isn’t slowing down. We haven’t had a single slow week in 2026. Every week brings something that changes how marketing, operations, or customer experience could work.
Most business owners I talk to are trying to figure out the same thing I am, which is how to position their business to take advantage of all of this. The wave is here. If you’re not riding it, your competitors are pulling ahead.
For us at TJ Digital, the most important thing right now is making sure our clients show up when their customers ask AI for recommendations. That means AI search optimization, getting brands cited on the third-party websites AI models pull from, and keeping the brand information AI sees about a company current and accurate.
Agencies that are using AI internally and being open about it are delivering about four times the workload at the same rates as agencies that hide their AI use. We talk about this a lot because most of the agency space is still pretending they hand-craft everything, and that’s not a sustainable position to hold much longer.
What Else Should You Know About AI This Week?
Will Anthropic’s Higher Rate Limits Apply to Claude Monthly Subscribers?
No. The new rate limits only apply to Anthropic’s API. If you pay for Claude through a monthly plan, you’ll hit your token limit at the same rate as before, and tokens cost the same. The Colossus-1 compute boost only changes the ceiling for API users for now.
Is Elon Musk Giving Up on Building a Competitive AI Model?
It doesn’t look that way. Some people are reading the Colossus-1 lease as Elon stepping back from the AI race, but he still seems to believe xAI will be first to AGI. Renting out idle compute while SpaceX uses Colossus-2 is just smart use of hardware that was sitting unused.
When Is Google I/O Happening This Year?
Google I/O 2026 is just a few weeks out. Expect Remy to be one of the headlining products, along with whatever Google has lined up for Gemini and its agent stack. Internal testing of a product like Remy usually means a public announcement is close.
How Can Small Business Owners Stay Ahead of AI Changes Like These?
The most practical thing is to make sure your brand is showing up in AI search results today. That means having content AI models can cite and a clear presence on the third-party websites they pull recommendations from. We track how often each client is being mentioned and recommended across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Perplexity, then prioritize the projects that move that number up the fastest.
